The article presents the main factors affecting the freight turnover of railway transport, the share of various modes of transport in the freight turnover. An analysis of the performance of loading and freight turnover on the railway network for the study period is given. The main reasons for the growth of the coefficient of the gap in the operational cargo turnover from the tariff to the planned value are considered. Measures are given to compensate for part of the losses
