Markov Chains in Reliability Theory and Their Application to Certain Transportation Problems, with Modeling in MATLAB (Simulink)
Abstract:
Markov chains play a key role in the mathematical description of random processes occurring in systems composed of many elements. All possible system states, characterized by the number and failure degree of its elements, are considered as the values taken by a continuous-time stochastic process. The description and analysis of such systems are significantly simplified if the Markov property can be assumed. In this work, we consider a k-out-of-n reliability system with redundancy and apply Markov chain theory to its study. The system modeling was performed in MATLAB (Simulink)
