Objective: to consider the possibility of using the Trainz Railroad Simulator 3D simulator for the training of operational personnel of railways, in order to study the work of railway transport in detail. Methods: The method of analyzing a 3D railway simulator is used, establishing the possibility of implementing the infrastructure and rolling stock of railway transport in it, modeling various situations. Results: during the study of the computer program, it was revealed that the Trainz Railroading Simulator environment allows you to simulate the infrastructure, rolling stock, various situations that arise during the operational work of railway transport by further issuing operational and production tasks for its implementation (including eliminating abnormal situations arising for training purposes).
