The article describes such a method of cargo transportation as containers. The features of container transportation and their status for the current year are reflected. Also, it identifies the main problems associated with container transportation and indicates the ways that can solve these problems. The advantages and disadvantages of container transportation in gondola cars are analyzed. The article identifies the reasons why the transportation of containers in gondola cars is difficult, and considers solutions to this problem.. The conclusion is made about the results of containerization of transportation on the railway network and the prospects for their further development.
