The article presents the results of an empirical study aimed at determining the formation of satisfaction with work and its relationship with organizational loyalty, career and life orientations, coping strategies and subjective well-being among machinists and assistant machinists as mediated characteristics of personal maturity and professional competence. Spearman correlation analysis was used to process the data. Specific links of satisfaction with work with research variables were revealed for both drivers and assistant drivers, which made it possible to compile psychological portraits for both groups and assume that workers of locomotive brigades with different positions have significant differences in their worldview and attitude to their work. The obtained results can be used by the personnel management service to organize professional training and advanced training of employees of locomotive crews and improve external working conditions.
