Abstract:
Student brigades were common at higher education institutions in the Soviet Union. These were typically construction brigades, where students assisted professional builders during summer vacations in constructing various national economic facilities. However, some universities also had year-round student brigades, whose members combined their studies with work at manufacturing plants across the country experiencing labor shortages. This article discusses the educational and production project “Year-Round Student Assistant Train Driver’s Squad “LADOGA”, which has been running for nearly 40 years at the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University.
